First Info on New Weight Watchers Plan: Momentum!

You guys! If you’re Canadian and have been on the WeightWatchers.ca website, then you already know that the new plan to be unveiled at meetings starting on Sunday is called Momentum. I’ve compiled a brief list of the basics based both on the website AND on tweets from someone in the know who is part of the WW twitter group I belong to (pssssst . . . join us if you like!).


A brief summary of the first information on the Momentum program:

  • Points are staying; we’ll still be tracking our food and beverage intake.
  • There will only be one plan—as many of us theorized—which will combine the best elements of Flex and Core.
  • Concentration on healthy foods that fill you up more for the same amount of Points as other, less-healthy and -filling options. (My twitter source says they will be marked with a green diamond in the Weight Watchers literature.)
  • Focus on learning to distinguish between physical and emotional hunger.

Okay, so that may not be as much as you’d like to know yet, but it’s a start ;) . Those of you who are online members in the U.S. may be getting details tomorrow!

    I love combining the idea of combining Flex & Core – mostly b/c I never could manage to do that myself! Can’t wait to find out more in the US – I’m assuming it will launch as part of the usualy big Jan marketing push?

    TZ: The new program is actually launching in meetings this coming week! Maybe to accustom current members before the big New Year’s Resolutioners rush comes in early Jan.?

    Just in time for my motivational needs! I love weekly handouts as these seem to keep me on track and motivated. The new plan debut is exciting so my interest is perked again. I am a Flex member so I don’t mind tracking. It really is the tool that keeps me focused and out of the up & down eating spiral. I do wish there were pocket protectors for the new guides – mine is already looking worn. You can always request a new one but then you loose your weigh in history. Also, I was told that because the new plan is a fresh start, I am starting anew on my 10% loss. This is a disappointment for me because I was so close to the keyring award. Small token but big to me in terms of progress. Enjoy!

  • Jenn: What??! That is totally uncool if our 10% start point is reset just because WW changed their program. My WW start weight in their computer system should be 202.8 lbs and I’ll be damned if I’m going to let them arbitrarily reset it to my current weight. I want credit for that progress! I WANT MY DAMN KEYRING, you bastards!!

    Ahem. I’m getting a little emotional here. Will speak to meeting leader on Sunday about this, for sure.
